First E. Fredricksen Fund Award Granted

Iaido-ka Kamu DaJaa-Ra

We’re very pleased to announce that we’ve made our first award from the Erik Fredricksen Memorial Fund to support a Michigan martial artist at a significant juncture in their training.

Kamau DaJaa-Ra trains in Iaido at Mitsubachi Dojo in Kalamazoo with Roo Heins Sensei, and has progressed to the point where participating in Iaido events and testing will help him level up! We are happy to support Kamau as he travels to Rochester NY this fall for the Great Lakes Iaido Council’s fall seminar and testing.

The Erik Fredricksen Memorial Fund of the Michigan Budokan supports individuals at important junctures in their own training in martial arts, stage combat, and other mind-body disciplines in the form of direct financial assistance. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and may be submitted here.
